Old aerodrome Elliniko neighborhood walk in Glyfada, Athens, Greece

Walking in Glyfada, in the neighborhood of the old aerodrome of Elliniko. A nice place to live especially after the final decision of edifice a metropolitan park along with residential and commercial areas. The old airplanes, of Olympic airways, remain as a reminder of some other era.

Ellinikon International aerodrome, sometimes spelled Hellinikon (Greek: Ελληνικόν) was the international aerodrome of Athens, Greece for 63 years up until 28 March 2001, when it was replaced past the new Athens International aerodrome, Eleftherios Venizelos. The grounds of the aerodrome are located 7 kilometres south of Athens, and just west of Glyfada. It was named after the village of Elliniko (Elleniko), now a suburb of Athens. The aerodrome had an official capacity of 11 million passengers per year, but had served 13.5 million passengers during its last year of operations.

The former aerodrome is now the site of a major development for coastal Athens which came under criticism because well preserved historic buildings (from the 1930s) were demolished.

The Hellenikon Metropolitan Park is beingness constructed with work outset in 2020 and will consist of luxury homes, hotels, a Online Casino Italy, the Inspire Athens tower, a marina, shops and offices to live built past 2025.
